Difference between C++11 and C++14 compared to the difference between python2.7 and python3.7(3.8)? [closed]

I'm new to the world of C++ and is considering to learn it, mainly for competitive programming. However, I bought a book that only teaches C++11. Fortunately, I'm familiar with Python. Thus, I'm wondering what's the difference between C++11 and C++14 compared to the difference between python2.7 and python3.7(3.8)? I said that because I understand difference it was for python, but for C++ from 11 to 14?

Also, if I do competitive programming, should I choose C++14 over 11 or both are fine?
