How to get time in milliseconds in C++ from a specific time point?

I want to take user input in the date form and calculate time in milliseconds(till the current time) using C++.

Input: 17 January 2001 Output: ______ milliseconds (till the current timepoint)

I was not able to figure out a way to use chrono library to perform this task. Please help.
