Compile time check for value categories

I have been recently learning the new 5 category distribution of expressions in c++ and I have gone through many tutorials giving examples of each also. xvalues are confusing to me they seem identical to lvalues. So how can they be fit into rvalues and glvalues both? I was wondering if there was some compile time check or other way of checking if some expression corresponds to a specific value category in c++? So that through such check I could figure out more details about the value categories.
