How to enable SSL/TLS in Poco/Data/Mysql to connect to cloud service (e.g., Google)

I am using Poco::Data::Mysql packages to connect to google cloud mysql DB. Aside from the configuration on the google cloud, what needs to be done on the client side to use TLS/SSL?
