How to compile a shared object that's dependent on another shared object

Me and my friend like to make games using freeglut and c++. I want to add a shared object wrapper to freeglut how would I compile it? I know how to compile a standalone shared object but when/where would I add the -lGL -lglut? We are both using c++11, Ubuntu, and g++
