G++ Compilation Error on SSH server when accessed from Mac Terminal

I'm trying to access my university's ssh server to compile my c++ code from Terminal. However, it returns the error "g++: error trying to exec 'cc1plus': execvp: No such file or directory" whenever i try to compile a file (which it shows in the directory) using the command "g++ test.cpp"

It works perfectly fine with PUTYY on windows though. Can someone please help.
